Colorado-based gaming company, Century Casinos Inc. (CNTY:NASDAQ), has announced that it has expanded the gaming space at its casino located inside the Marriott Hotel in Warsaw, Poland.

Operated by Casinos Poland Ltd., the company’s majority-owned subsidiary, the gambling venue celebrated the opening of an additional gaming floor at what is one of the firm’s seven casinos located in international four and five-star hotels in the country in Central Europe.

According to the company’s official press release on Friday…

On Thursday, May 30, 2019, Casinos Poland`s staff welcomed some 800 guests to check out the brand new 4,000 square feet gaming floor, which features 20 slots machines, 15 gaming tables, a pair of VIP rooms, as well as a bar and lounge area. The additions to the newly-created gaming space bring the casino’s total offering to 70 slot machines and 35 gaming tables on what is now approximately 12,000 square feet of gambling area.

Flagship casino:

Commenting on the addition, Co-Chief Executive Officers for Century Casinos, Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, said…

“We are excited about the substantial increase in the gaming offer of our Polish flagship casino and believe it will further strengthen Casinos Poland’s successful performance.”

Expanded footprint:

Further growing its footprint in the central European country’s gambling market, in July 2018, the Colorado Springs-headquartered company announced that its 66.6 percent-owned Polish subsidiary, Casinos Poland had been awarded a total of eight casino licenses in the following markets: Warsaw (3), Wroclaw (1), Katowice (1), Bielsko-Biala (1), Krakow (1) and Lodz (1). At the time, five casinos were already in operation, with the Krakow casino due to open on July 2, 2018, and the third casino in Warsaw and the casino in Lodz slated to open in August last year.

European properties:

Currently, the Polish subsidiary owns and operates seven casinos in the country:

  • Casino Warsaw – in the Marriott Hotel, Warsaw
  • Casino Warsaw – in the Hilton Hotel, Warsaw
  • Casino Wrocław – in the Hilton Hotel, Wrocław
  • Casino Bielsko-Biała – in the President Hotel,  Bielsko-Biała
  • Casino Katowice – in the Park Inn by Radisson, Katowice
  • Casino Krakòw – in the Dwór Kosciuszko Hotel, Krakòw
  • Casino Łódź – in the CH Manufaktura, Łódź

In addition to a controlling stake in Casinos Poland Ltd., Century Casinos, Inc. operates casinos in Bath, England, the U.S. and Canada and a number of casinos aboard luxury cruise lines (TUI Cruises and Diamond Cruise international) Additionally, the company manages a horse track and casino in Balzac, Alberta and in September 2016, was chosen to open a racetrack in the Edmonton area.

Alberta property opening:

In other company news, on April 1 this year, the company had a soft opening for its Century Mile Racetrack and Casino near the city of Leduc in Alberta, Canada, which was followed by the grand opening celebration on the evening of April 27, 2019. The racino’s one-mile racetrack kicked off the horse racing season with thoroughbred racing on April 28, according to the official press release at the time.
