On July 31st, three additional Democratic state representatives signed up to co-sponsor Barney Frank’s HR 2267 proposal to legalize and regulate online gambling in the United States.The newest co-sponsors are Representative Betsy Markey of Colorado, Representative Russ Carnahan of Missouri, and Representative Bill Pascrell of New Jersey. This brings the tally to 54 co-sponsors thus far.Both parties have expressed their support to Barney Frank’s bill.

Mr. Frank is hopeful that this bill will get farther in the legislative process than his previous bill because of the Democratic control of the House and Senate, as well as the Republican concern for freedom on the Internet.Mr. Frank is the Chairman of the House Financial Committee who is expected to address his gambling bill this fall.
