Ralph Mastrantonio was in court Thursday April, 9, 2015 to hear the results of the criminal case against him. Allegations of operating an illegal poker game on Staten Island, New York were brought against Mastrantonio in 2011. Mastrantonio is a retired Sergeant for the NYPD. The ongoing trial was finally ended with a verdict on Thursday in which Mastrantonio was convicted. Sentencing has not occurred yet; however, he could face up to five years in prison. The prison sentence would be for running the gambling den known as “5th Street” which was located on Arthur Kill Road.
The gambling location was known to pull in thousands of dollars a night while offering free booze and Italian food for players. Other individuals were also arrested including Detective Richard Palase, who pleaded guilty in February and is also waiting for his sentencing according to reports in the New York Daily News.
