First announced on June 30, 2015, Boyd Gaming’s $45 million expansion project at Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel in Vinton, Louisiana has been completed.
“Throughout Boyd Gaming’s 16 years of ownership, Delta Downs has consistently been one of our most successful and popular properties,” said Keith Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming in an afternoon press release today. “This ambitious expansion is a reinvestment in our customers and this community, one that will elevate and enhance the Delta Downs experience while allowing us to host more customers than ever before.”
The centerpiece of the expansion project is an all-new, 167-room hotel tower, which was completed in late 2016. The original 200-room hotel tower also underwent a complete redesign and refurbishment, making the entire hotel property ‘brand new’.
Design elements for the all 367 rooms result in a luxurious and modern feel, with dark wood textures, chocolate, and smoky gray color palettes, accented throughout with abstract modern art. In the new hotel tower, guests will find a 5,000-square-foot fitness center outfitted with a wide array of exercise equipment along with studio space for classes. The new locker rooms feature wet and dry steam treatment areas.
In good weather guests can relax by the pool in a well-appointed cabana or day bed, enjoying an entertaining atmosphere enhanced by a state-of-the-art sound system, outdoor bar, and barbecue pit.
Delta Downs premiered a new dining concept – Rosewater Grill & Tavern – earlier this year. The venue augments the property’s already robust food and beverage offerings with a modern steakhouse experience. Steak and seafood dishes are delivered with Louisiana flair and Rosewater offers up incredible views of the legendary Delta Downs racetrack which officially opened on September 20, 1973.
Boyd Gaming is in the process of enhancing amenities at properties across the country, and the Delta Downs expansion is part of that ongoing effort.
Delta Downs features a six-furlong (3/4 mile) oval track and hosts the annual $1 Million Delta Downs Jackpot race in November along with thoroughbred racing October through March and a quarter horse race season with meets from April through July.
The casino has soaring interior views and hosts over 1,600 state-of-the-art slot machines. In addition to quick, casual, buffet, and fine dining, several entertainment venues are offered including the Gator Lounge with drinks and free local entertainment and the Delta Event Center, a modern performing arts venue with state-of-the-art sound presenting top names in an intimate atmosphere.
With their headquartered in Las Vegas, Boyd Gaming owns and operates 24 gaming entertainment properties throughout Nevada, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
