Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly is an initiative launched by the American Gaming Association (AGA) to ensure that as legal sports betting expands in the US, players know how to engage in a responsible way. The AGA has teamed up with several partners to promote the program, with two new members joining up this week. DraftKings and Sightline are the newest companies working towards advancing responsible sports wagering in the United States.
New Partners
DraftKings is already a prominent company in the sports betting industry. The company is the first partner of Have A Game Plan to implement the program within all of its retail sportsbooks in the US. The company will promote the campaign within its social media and digital marketing channels.
As for Sightline, the company is the first payments provider to join in as a partner to the responsible gaming program. Sightline will display the content from the program to cardholders and new users of its product, encouraging players to ‘Fund Your Fun, Then Be Done.’
Responsible Gaming
With Have A Game Plan, the program promotes four key areas that players should consider when placing bets. First, players need to set a budget and stick to it. with a budget in place, limits are established to develop personal guidelines on when and how much to spend when wagering.
Keep it social is another aspect players must consider. Sports betting is an entertainment option, so the program encourages bettors to keep it social so that it remains entertaining instead of becoming an issue.
The program also encourages players to be informed. Players should utilize resources that are available to be able to understand the rules of games and the odds of winning. It is also recommended that players only take part in sports betting with licensed and regulated operators. This ensures that the best gaming practices are taking place, which eliminates any risk towards the player.
Additional Partners
Soon after the AGA launched its responsible gambling initiative in the United States, several companies involved in the sports world joined in the effort. NASCAR and the NHL are among those supporting the program. NASCAR is encouraging bettors to “Know When To Pit” while NHL was the first of the four major leagues to join in.
The PGA Tour is also part of the team, encouraging golf fans to “Know When to Lay UP” and wager responsibly. PGA Tour Radio will broadcast public service announcements to help spread the word about the program.
FanDuel is also part of the effort, being the first mobile sportsbook operator to partner with the program.
