Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel is an extremely popular casino and entertainment spot in Lafayette. The racetrack is spread across 750 acres and the casino floor covers over 40,000 square feet and is home to over 1,300 slot machines attracting a large number of patrons every week. There is also an Evangeline Downs Hotel that is not very far from the casino and offers overnight guests over 117 rooms to stay at.

The casino is always looking at new ways to bring in more customers and exceed their overall gaming experience. Evangeline Downs recently decided to add to their entertainment facilities by opening the Spotted Horse Tavern and Dining Parlor to give its patrons a place to hang-out and taste some fantastic dishes. The new parlor has been uniquely named following the rend of an urban legend where a “long-necked spotted horse” better known as a giraffe helped coin the term winning the race by a neck.

The new Spotted Horse Tavern and Dining Parlor has been designed to a tavern one side were patrons can hangout and taste the local brew and sample some local cuisine and on the other side is a full service restaurant serving some mouth-watering dishes. Some of the popular dishes available on the starter menu include citrus-glazed pork belly and prawns, crawfish and corn bisque and chicken and sausage gumbo. The main course features dishes like country-braised short ribs, Louisiana catfish and certified Angus Beef tenderloin for two.

One of the features of the Spotted Horse Tavern and Dining Parlor is the hot sauce collection which is not for the faint hearted. The menu features twenty hot sauces that customers can dip into along with their food. Some of the hot sauces include serrano ginger lemongrass, habanero carrot curry and ghost pepper and blueberry.

Boyd Gaming properties, owners of the Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel have been on a recent mission to invest and upgrade their twenty two gaming properties located throughout the country. Boyd Gaming owns gaming properties in Louisiana, New Jersey, Nevada, Kansas, Mississippi, Iowa and Illinois.

In a statement, Ted Bogich, Senior Vice President of Operations for Boyd Gaming said “The Spotted Horse is a dining experience unlike anything else in this region. With modern takes on traditional Louisiana flavors, offered in a beautifully designed and whimsical setting, the Spotted Horse gives customers another great reason to visit Evangeline Downs.”
