Wynn Resorts Ltd (NASDAQ:WYNN) has been working hard to complete the Encore Boston Harbor project, a casino resort located in the city of Everett, set to open by June of 2019. The casino has a $2.5 billion price tag, with the company already having spent more than they planned after it was revealed the site cleanup cost the company $68 million instead of the original $30 million estimate. The casino will now have to undergo a little repair work after a fire broke out onsite over the weekend.

Fourth Floor Roof Fire:

A fire reportedly began in the early morning hours on Sunday, on the roof of the fourth floor. This area is adjacent to the casino tower. As sparks fell from a welder on the tower, it caused the fire to start. The flames were put out before the local fire department arrived on the scene.

Executive director of brand marketing, Greg John, stated that there were no safety issues due to the fire and there were no reports of injuries. While officials have not revealed the amount of damage caused by the flames, John has stated that the opening date of the gaming facility will not be changed.

Continuing Issues:

The project has faced several issues during the construction phases, having just recently changed its name due to Wynn Resorts trying to distance themselves from former CEO and Chairman, Steve Wynn, who faces charges of sexual harassment.

Back in April, it was announced the casino project would no longer have the Wynn name and would be rebranded as Encore Boston Harbor.
