The FireKeepers Casino and Hotel in Battle Creek, Michigan has been investigating a point-of-sale system breach for a few weeks now,  after finding out from patrons that issues have arisen on credit card and bank statements. According to Jim Wise, the Vice President of Marketing for the casino, the investigation continues with independent forensic consultants working to analyze the systems of the casino.

Information is being gathered to try and determine what might have taken place during the breach. A text message was sent by Wise which reaffirmed that the point-of-sale equipment of the casino was not connected to the casino’s system. Wise stated all current transactions of the property are secure.

In the original report, the casino stated the possible breach was first reported on the 6th of May as fraudulent charges were found to have been made on an anonymous individual’s account from a trip in 2014. The casino is unsure as to how many people have been affected by the incident or when the breach first began. As the investigation continues, the casino hopes to learn more information on the security breach.
