Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia 2016, which ran from May 17 – 19 at the Venetian Macao this year saw another record-breaking turn out.  Over 10,000 visitors attended the three-day event, up 11 percent from last year. Attendees came from 83 different countries and regions.  Josephine Lee, Executive Vice President of Reeds Exhibition Greater China who put on the UFI approved event, said that over 900 buyers and decision makers with purchasing power were in attendance. VIP attendance was up more than 40 percent from last year.

Representatives of the world  gaming industry were on hand as well as local government dignitaries and business organizations.

Reed’s Josephine Lee said of the event, “The 10th edition of G2E Asia has achieved new milestone and set new records in many aspects including the number of visitors, delegates and VIP buyers, which truly reflects G2E Asia as the industry event for forward-looking casino operators and suppliers in Asia. We will continue to innovate with initiatives to enhance the attendees’ experience by engaging and working closely with the industry, government and industry associations.”

Paul Beh, President of Reed Exhibitions, Asia-Pacific Region, told local media outlet the Macau Daily Times that Macau will need to “find its own niche” in developing the local MICE industry, pointing to such examples as Hong Kong and Singapore and noting that those locales have fully developed their accessibility, links to international airports, communications capabilities, and infrastructure.

He reportedly told the outlet on the sidelines of the convention that the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge, an ongoing construction project consisting of a series of bridges and tunnels crossing the Lingdingyang channel, as well as the under-construction Metro Ligeiro de Macau (Macau Light Rail Transit) will help the SAR bring more conferences, exhibitions, and other non-gaming activities to Macau.

Organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions, G2E Asia is part of The Global Gaming Expo (G2E) portfolio of events. G2E is the largest event for the global gaming industry and is held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada USA. 2016 marked the 10th G2E Asia event.  G2E Asia will again be held at The Venetian Macao next year from May 16-18, 2017.
