Galaxy Entertainment Group will open Galaxy Macau Phase II (of IV) along with the Broadway Macau on May 27, 2015. Galaxy Macau is the firm’s flagship property in Macau on the Cotai Strip. With the addition of Broadway Macau, the destination will double in size to over 1.1 million square meters at an investment of HK$43 billion (US$5.5 billion). Two further phases are planned that will bring Galaxy’s investment in the area to $HK100 billion. Site investigation for the remaining phases of the development is expected to begin later this year.
The former Grand Waldo was closed in mid-2013 to undergo renovations and will become Broadway at Galaxy Macau which includes Broadway Hotel, Broadway Casino, Broadway Theatre, and The Broadway. Broadway at Galaxy Macau will become a family oriented resort and is linked via a 90 second walk on an air conditioned sky-bridge to Galaxy Macau.
The investment in family-friendly offerings is a result of Galaxy spreading their risk in the market. Broadway will appeal widely to the mass market, while Galaxy Macau continues to bring in the premium mass market and some high-rollers. StarWorld Casino & Hotel will continue to cater primarily to VIP players.
The Phase II and Broadway launch will result in an integrated resort with six world-class hotels offering nearly 4,000 rooms including Ritz-Carlton’s first All-Suite hotel with over 250 suites. JW Marriott Hotel Macau, with over 1,000 rooms is Asia’s largest JW Marriot hotel. Broadway Hotel is offering 320 well-appointed rooms. The new offerings are complemented by three existing upscale properties; Galaxy Hotel, Hotel Okura Macau, and Banyan Tree Macau.
An expanded 75,000 square meter Grand Resort Deck atop the hotel will feature the world’s largest skytop wave pool and a skytop aquatic adventure river ride at 575 meters making it the world’s longest such amenity.
Luxury shoppers can peruse the wares of more than 200 retail brands in the Promenade. Retailers will include Bottega, Veneta, Bvlgari, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Alexander Wang, Moncler, and Qeelin among many others. Including the more than 40 restaurants and street food vendors at The Broadway, complete with street entertainers, there will be over 120 food and beverage outlets – making it the largest dining offering in Macau. Michelin starred restaurants are among the mix.
The Broadway Theatre is accessible in less than two minutes from the Broadway Casino as well as Galaxy Macau. The theater is an intimate venue with 3,000 tiered luxury seats, a private VIP lounge, and a LED wall covering 26 square meters (279 sq. ft.).
