After becoming a full service casino in December, Tioga Downs has already expanded to offer even more slot gaming. When the casino opened on December 2nd, 461 slot games were installed. Now that the expanded gaming floor is operational, the casino offers a total of 944 slot games. Table games were also included in the expansion, with 9 additional tables provided, bringing the overall total from 23 to 32. Blackjack, roulette and additional card games are on offer.
Tioga Downs announced that the new slot games have quality features such as bonus games, touch screen and downloadable credits. Games have been added based on popular television shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show as well as game shows like Wheel of Fortune.
The casino will now have to hire more employees to cover the expanded gaming floor as well as be on hand for Harness Racing season and the 2017 Summer Concert Series. Tioga Downs General Manager and President, Scott Freeman, stated that the venue is excited for the big year ahead and will be hiring a multitude of people for several positions including food and beverage, table game dealers and more.
On top of the table games and slot machines the casino offers, the property also includes a Poker Room with 12 tables. Daily tournaments have yet to take place but are planned for the future. Players who visit the Poker Room can take part in weekly promotions along with a bad beat progressive jackpot.
So far, the Tioga Downs has done quite well in transitioning from a racing venue with video lottery terminals to a full-scale gambling facility with Las Vegas class casino offerings. The New York Gaming Commission reported that from December 2nd to February 12th, the venue saw total gross gaming revenues of $13.2 million.
