Plans for the Grand-Re-Opening of the Dragonara Casino in Malta have been announced, to coincidence with the legendary venue’s 53rd anniversary.
The product upgrade and large-scale refurbishment is a €10 m investment which combines tradition and state-of-the-art gaming products to create a one of a kind experience in the local market. Included in the investment are the most up to date slots products, a dedicated Casino Brasserie and Sports Lounge, optimization of the interior, designed specifically to provide live games casino players with the best possible casino experience, and a new poker room with amazing sea views. Also included in the investment is a second restaurant, The Marquis Terrace, as well as a new centrally located cocktail bar.
Dragonara’s Johann Schembri said that when they assumed operation and management responsibilities of the concession their vision was to create an entertainment and gaming destination unparalleled in Southern Europe. He said that their latest €10m investment, together with their initial investment of more that €15m, is a clear indication of their outlook for the casino in what is an extremely competitive local market. Schembri added that the goal is the transformation of the Dragonara Peninsula into Southern Europe’s foremost gaming and entertainment resort.
Live table gaming equipment was supplied and designed by TCS John Huxley. Steph Nel, Senior Business Development Manager Europe, said that they’ve been supplying the Dragonara Casino with products since its early days and they they’ve enjoyed the successful long-standing relationship. The Dragonara Casino’s opening on July 15, 1964, was considered to be one of the first major projects to help establish the Southern European island country as a tourist destination. A fully-owned Maltese company, in June 2010 Dragonara Gaming Limited took over operation of the casino and today is host to more than 300,000 patrons a year.
