Having opened in August of 2014, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is already planning on expanding. Operators of the casino would like to expand the gaming floor, offering high-stakes gaming in the process. The cost of the plans would reach around $5 million and would include an addition of almost 8,000 square feet.
According to the Sioux City Journal, the casino would like to add more gaming, a wine bar and a private lounge. Within the new gaming area, the venue would include two blackjack table games as well as fifty slot games. Todd Moyer, the General Manager of the casino, stated that since the venue opened, guests have requested that the venue include more drinking as well as gaming options.
On Monday, the Sioux City Council is set to meet and discuss the request of the Iowa casino. Approval has been recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission of Sioux City and the next meeting of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will cover the topic as well. Reportedly, the casino has been planning the expansion over the past six months and will like to have the approvals granted to begin construction this summer.
