In Russia, the first casino near the southern city of Sochi has announced that it will be holding a soft launch on the afternoon of December 31 before officially opening to the general public five days later.
According to a report from Asia Gaming Brief, the new Sochi Casino And Resort will be operated by LLC Domain, which was established by Singapore-based construction firm Silverron International Private Limited a year ago and received its casino license last month, and intends to mark its premiere with shows from musical acts such as Leonid Agutin, Anzhelika Varum and Lolita alongside a fireworks display.
“Many people are already looking forward to the official opening of the casino,” read a statement from Stuart McLaughlin, General Manager for the Sochi Casino And Resort. “We decided to give a gift to our future visitors and provide them with a unique opportunity to celebrate the New Year at the Sochi Casino And Resort and become its first guests before January 5.”
A 2009 decision made casino gambling illegal in Russia with the exception of four disparate regions, the Kaliningrad Oblast on the Baltic Sea, the far eastern Primorsky Krai, Krasnodar Krai on the Black Sea and central Asia’s Altai Krai. The Krasnaya Polyana, which directly translates as “red meadow” in Russian, area around Sochi was added to the Krasnodar Krai region in 2014 while Moscow approved casinos for the newly-annexed Crimea territory in June.
“Our guests can now purchase package deals for three, five and seven nights,” read a statement from Tatiana Chuikina, Sales And Product Development Director for the Sochi Casino And Resort. “These include the chance to be one of the first to visit our casino, a Christmas program and a meal in our gourmet restaurant with a famous chef, comfortable shuttle vehicles, business-class accommodation in deluxe rooms, spa and many other details.”
