A grand jury in Clark County Nevada has indicted a gambler who lost half a million dollars playing table games at the Downtown Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino in January last year. Mark Allen Johnston claimed that he lost the money because the casino got him drunk. Casinos are not allowed to let patrons who appear visibly drunk to gamble.

Johnston was indicted for theft and passing bad checks, having exchanged four checks at the casino for credits totaling $500,000.

A warrant was issued Friday when Johnston failed to appear at a preliminary hearing in Las Vegas.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board looked into Johnston’s claims but closed their investigation due to lack of evidence.
