Today is the deadline for proposals to be sent in to the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes for consideration as the spot for the third state casino in Connecticut. The Connecticut Airport Authority is ready to review their proposal as the Bradley International Airport wants a casino. The Enfield Square Mall is also contemplating sending in a proposal, but have only until 4 p.m. today to do so.

On Thursday afternoon it was reported that the owner of Enfield Square Mall, Madison Marquette, will be deciding this morning to move forward with a proposal. The town has not decided to endorse such a proposal and back in October, the management team of the Enfield Square Mall saw resistance when almost 200 residents of the city stated they do not want a casino built in the town.

Despite the opposition by locals, the airport authority still plans on producing a casino proposal. The Executive Director of the Airport Authority, Kevin Dillon, confirmed yesterday that a proposal will be submitted to the Mashantucket Pequots and the Mohegans by the deadline. The proposal was reviewed earlier this week by the authority.

The project by the airport was rejected two weeks ago by the Windsor Locks board as two of the three selectmen were not running for re-election in the municipal elections on Tuesday. The major decision will most likely be left to the officials who have not taken office yet. Also other concerns were on disruptions and the cost of having to have a larger police force in the town.

The Airport Authority will have to have approval from the selectmen of Windsor Locks as well as public hearings to take place. The authority will be going before the board later in the month and plans are for the casino to be located in a new terminal or one to be opened at the Sheraton Hotel.
