On Wednesday, January 5th, 2022 the Los Angeles Rams have announced that their young, star, and starting running back, Cam Akers, will return and play in this highly – contested NFC West battle. Less than six months ago Akers tore his right Achilles tendon, and has had to miss the entire 2021 – 2022 NFL season so far. Garoppolo has been suffering from torn ligaments in his right thumb on his throwing hand. Jimmy has explained how much the thumb has been hurting him, and he has said that some days it feels better than others as he struggles to practice with the San Francisco 49ers this week as they prepare for this crucial final regular season game versus the Los Angeles Rams.
Trey Lance must be ready to step in for Garoppolo if Jimmy is unable to play this weekend which the San Francisco 49ers’ head coach, Kyle Shanahan, has disclosed that their quarterback situation for week – 18 will be a game time decision. Garoppolo has explained that he plans on playing unless he is absolutely unable to throw a football come this Sunday, January 9th, 2022. Media Statements
“He’s (Cam Akers) excited,” the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, Sean McVay, stated this week. “He’ll be ready to go.“
“We’re working through that,” McVay goes on to say. “He sure looks good. He looks like he could carry — play a lot of plays, but I do think you want to be smart with an incremental approach. Is that 10 snaps? Is that 20? Is that 25? I think that’s something that as the week progresses, we’ll have a better feel for, but definitely want to get him involved.”
“Fuck it, it hurts,” the San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo explained while laughing a little bit. “I don’t know how else to describe it. It feels like the web in your hand is kind of tearing a little bit.”
“I haven’t made [a decision on the quarterback] now, which is the truth,” the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Kyle Shanahan, revealed. “And I probably will make it before the game starts, and I will not tell you guys when I do.”
“It’s just a long season, a lot of things happened. … You go through all that stuff just to get an opportunity that we have this Sunday,” Garoppolo expressed. “That’s all you can ask for. I’m going to do everything I can to be out there. It’s a big one. Whatever I can do to be out there, I’m going to be out there.”
