The 2019 PokerStars.es European Poker Tour Barcelona is well under way with the first major event of the series having already concluded. The €1,100 EPT National has finished up, with a record-breaking prize pool offered. A total of 4,682 entries created a prize pool of just over €4.5 million, with first place securing €585,500! In the end, it was Markku Koplimaa who earned the first-place finish, after defeating Adam Hendrix in heads-up play.

Final Day:

On the final day of play, six players were back at the felt. The action started at a fast-pace and several all-ins would be seen quickly. Jose Quintas would exit first, at the hands of Barry McGovern. Despite the knockout, McGovern would find himself exiting the tournament in 5th place.

Koplimaa would then start to dominate the poker competition. After a short time, he would take over the lead and never look back. Once heads-up play began between him and Hendrix, it would last a mere ten minutes.

The final hand would see Koplimaa quickly call Hendrix’ all-in with pocket eights and be rewarded when an eight appeared on the flop. He would earn the win, sending Hendrix packing in second place.
