Bruce Tarr, the State Senate Minority Leader in Massachusetts, is currently making efforts to see online gambling offered in the state. Tarr would like to see the Massachusetts Gaming Commission grant licenses to the major casinos of the state to offer online gaming. If the commission were to offer licenses, Wynn Everett and MGM Springfield who would be invited to offer iGaming.
Tarr has provided a proposal to legalize and regulate online gambling in Massachusetts, with supporters of the measure feeling that the additional revenue could be used to help the new casinos get on their feet. Tarr does not want to see the new casinos be unsuccessful as other states allow online gaming and Massachusetts falls behind.
Chris Moyer, an American Gaming Association spokesman, stated that there is a varying interest in online gambling in the state’s casino. Some in the state view it as a way to bring additional customers in while others are concerned that the land-based casinos would see a decrease in visitors since players would be logging online.
