iGaming Business – A new bill has been introduced in the New Zealand parliament that will make match fixing a criminal offence.

The bill, which has the full support of all political parties, is called the Crimes (Match-Fixing) Amendment Bill.

The new law will be applicable to matches and events in all sporting codes, with penalties of up to seven years in prison for those trying to illegally influence the outcome of an event.

The bill is being introduced ahead of the Cricket World Cup and Fifa U-20 World Cup, which will both take place in the country next year.
