In Macau, casino operator Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited has reportedly echoed last week’s decision by competitor Wynn Macau Limited in announcing that all eligible non-management employees are to receive a salary rise for 2018.
According to a report from GGRAsia, Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited revealed that the wage improvement is to apply to workers inside its City of Dreams Macau, Altira Macau and Studio City Macau venues while the Hong Kong-based operator moreover declared that these same employees are to additionally receive a ‘one-month discretionary bonus’ before the start of celebrations to mark the annual Chinese New Year.
“Melco [Resorts and Entertainment Limited] has always and continues to see employees as a top priority for the company,” reportedly read a statement from Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited.
Although it reportedly did not disclose how many employees are due to benefit from the annual pay hike, Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited did explain that wages are set to improve from April by an average of 2.5% to 8.1% with those earning up to $24,000 annually benefitting to the tune of around $74 every month. It purportedly moreover declared that workers currently taking home more than this threshold will see their monthly pay packets improve by nearly $5.
“Melco [Resorts and Entertainment Limited’s] employees are our strongest asset [and] as a token of our heartfelt thanks for their unfailing dedication, contribution and loyalty we are pleased to announce a discretionary bonus and a competitive pay increment to our employees,” reportedly read a statement from Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited.
