Many of the major gambling brands are expanding their businesses in non-gambling directions. To that end, MGM Mirage has announced that they are involved in a deal to develop and operate a luxury hotel and office complex in Tianjin, China. MGM Mirage and partner Diaoyutai State Guesthouse announced the agreement with Sinosteel International Plaza Co. in a press release at their website. The press release also said that this project is just the first of similar joint hotel/resort projects planned for other major cities across China. The development is planned to include two towers with the first being 88 stories that will house 110 residential units and a 350-room hotel. Wall Street Journal analysts predict that the MGM Mirage will most likely convert its hospitality unit into a separate publicly traded company in the future.
