Following some two years of preparation, online casino games and software developer, Microgaming, has announced the launch of its new Slingshot Studios enterprise.
New game development venture:
The Isle of Man-based innovator used an official Wednesday press release to explain that Slingshot Studios is to be an ‘independent game studio’ that will be exclusively developing new content including the soon-to-be-released Cash of Kingdoms video slot.
Microgaming stated that its Slingshot Studios venture is comprised of ‘a crew of gambling industry veterans’ as well as ‘new blood and everything in between’ and will now work to create ‘highly entertaining and compelling products exclusively for Microgaming and [its] customers.’
Initial release coming in October:
Regarding Cash of Kingdoms, the developer declared that the Medieval-themed title was first promoted during February’s ICE Totally Gaming exhibition in London and will be made available to iGaming operators from early next month. It detailed that the 15-payline video slot is due to offer representations of knights, archers, bombardiers and magicians on its five reels alongside the novel Invading Wilds feature for both its base and extra spins games.
Launch to expand parent’s ‘extensive digital portfolio’:
John Coleman, Chief Executive Officer for Microgaming, proclaimed that the debut of Slingshot Studios will benefit his firm’s ‘extensive digital portfolio’ as the new entity works to develop ‘original games with exciting engines and features’ that are to be ‘targeted at specific markets and audiences.’
Coleman’s statement read…
“The content it has coming is fantastic and its drive to create and challenge is incredible. Slingshot Studios is the latest in a number of game studios to be announced as exclusive providers to Microgaming and we look forward to unveiling more content from it in the coming months.”
Studio to utilize ‘energy and imagination’:
For his part, Richard Vermaak, Creative Director for Slingshot Studios, asserted that the new game development studio is to be pushed forward by ‘energy and imagination’ with Cash of Kingdoms just the ‘first taste of what’s to come.’
