Sydney, Australia-based company PlayUp has announced sports betting license approval in New Jersey. The company currently offers online sports betting services, daily fantasy sports and horse racing in New Zealand, Australia, and India. It will expand even further in the United States after securing licensing in the Garden State. The Australian brand started its foray in the US after obtaining licensing in Colorado.
NJ Licensing
For PlayUp to obtain licensing in the state, the company had to be partnered with a physical location. FR Park Racing, LP (FRP) is the operator’s chosen partner, a company owned by Penwood Racing, Inc. FRP is the operator of the Freehold Racetrack. PlayUp also now has ties with major gaming entities Parx Casino, Penn National Gaming, and Greenwood Racing, as they are the 50/50 partners of Pennwood.
Senior Vice President of Interactive Gaming and Sports for Parx, Matthew Cullen, commented on the licensing of PlayUp, stating that Parx is happy to be partnered with the brand as it launches services in New Jersey.
Growing Rapidly in the US
PlayUp is looking forward to continuing its growth in the United States. Plans are to launch in New Jersey within the first quarter of this year. Back in September, the company was approved for licensing Colorado. The licensing is temporary as PlayUp is still under review by the state. The brand expects to clear the testing process and be approved for full licensing.
However, with the temporary license in place, PlayUp can offer online and mobile sports betting in the state. Services are not live yet, but it is assumed they will get started around the same time as New Jersey.
Global PlayUp CEO Daniel Simic commented that the approval in NJ is exciting news and a positive result for the company. PlayUp is pursuing a goal of rapid growth and building a strong foundation via technology, systems and partnerships help in reaching this goal.
