PlayUSA betting analyst and movie historian Jessica Welman, commented on Oscar betting, stating that it is expected that Oscar betting will only grow. According to Welman, bettors are more interested in their favorite movies and actors rather than the favorites to win. The field of nominees is filled with top actors and actresses, so interest should be driven even further in 2020.

In the first year that Oscar betting was offered in the state, sportsbooks accepted an estimated $1 million in wagers. So far, New Jersey is the only one offering such odds in 2020.

DraftKings was first to offer odds along with FOX Bet. More operators are expected to launch betting options soon.
