In western Canada, casino operator Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited has announced a plan that will see it spend almost $3 million in order to add a pair of new restaurants to its Lake City Casino Kelowna and update the venue’s gaming floor.

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited revealed that the project for the British Columbia property will create additional jobs and is set to see a 132-seat Match Eatery and Public House franchise replace the area once occupied by its Gateway 21 events space. The Vancouver-based operator explained that the refresh will also encompass a new The Buffet outlet supplanting the Kelowna venue’s existing Grove Bistro.

“Given our continued investment in the local Kelowna economy and our commitment to improving the customer experience through our dining and entertainment brands, we look forward to adding these new restaurants to Lake City Casino Kelowna,” read a statement from Tony Santo, Chief Executive Officer for Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited.

Lake City Casino Kelowna is located inside the Grand Okanagan Lakefront Resort and Conference Centre on Okanagan Lake and Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited declared that work on its refurbishment is expected to start later this month with the new restaurants opening in the “winter of 2017”.

“It’s great to see Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited’s continued investment in one of Kelowna’s prime entertainment venues and the new jobs this expansion will create are always welcome,” read a statement from Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran. “Kelowna’s diverse culinary culture will also enjoy another great dining and entertainment option downtown.”

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment will celebrate its 25th birthday next month and stated that its Lake City Casino Kelowna is set to remain open during the refurbishment with only “minimal disruption to employees and customers” expected.

“We’re looking forward to introducing these changes and exciting restaurants to our customers,” read a statement from Clarissa Pruden, General Manager for Lake City Casino Kelowna. “We know that Match Eatery and Public House and The Buffet will also provide compelling offerings for new customers to come and visit us as well.”
