Jonathan Hill (pictured), the current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for insurance and tourism group Saga plc, has been appointed CFO for Paddy Power Betfair plc (PPB:London) to begin his fall, according to a Wednesday statement (pdf) from the Dublin, Ireland-headquartered bookmaking business.
The appointment is on the heels of a previous announcement by the bookmaker’s current CFO Alex Gersh who reportedly said that he would relinquish the post at such time as a successor is appointed. Gersh will remain in the role until Hill joins the group in the autumn.
Hill has reportedly been CFO for Sage since April 2015, having served as group finance director at British housebuilding company Bovis Homes prior to that. He has also previously held senior finance roles at British leisure travel group TUI Travel and UK multinational utility company Centrica and reportedly qualified as a Chartered Accountant with what is now PwC [Price Warehouse].
Commenting on the appointment, Chief Executive Officer for Paddy Power Betfair, Peter Jackson, said, “We’re delighted that Jonathan is joining us. He brings substantial strategic and operational finance experience in consumer businesses and I am confident he will make a significant contribution to Paddy Power Betfair’s future success.”
Hill commented on his own appointment by saying that he was “excited to be joining a business with great brands, differentiated products and substantial international scale”.
“There are many opportunities to drive shareholder value and I look forward to being part of the team to deliver this,” added Hill.
In January, the online and retail sports betting gaming operator appointed new CEO’s for its Europe operations and Sportsbet, the group’s Australia operations.
