After a day of gaming fun for an invite-only crowd and a day of final testing for gaming machines, the Plainridge Park Casino will officially open today. Set to be the first casino in the state, many were invited out on Monday to take part in a soft launch to see how the games operate and if the casino facility was ready for the grand opening. Invited to the facility to experience gaming for the first time were regular gamblers of nearby Connecticut casinos, construction contractors who worked on the facility and officials of the state.

During the soft launch, only minor issues were found such as seating people in the dining areas or preparing food in time for the number of guests on-site. The General Manager of the casino, Lance George, was optimistic that the casino would be ready to open fully by Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the facility would go through a test run again, with the Gaming Commission looking over the gaming floor and giving final approval. There are thousands of regulations to consider, so the casino was reviewed with a fine tooth comb to be ready for today’s grand opening. Only minor issues were found on Tuesday that can easily be adjusted by the staff.

Upon arrival during today’s grand opening in Massachusetts, visitors will be able to enjoy gaming on 1,250 slot machines which will accept $1 and $5 bets. Electronic table games are also offered at the facility including blackjack.
