Playtech, the world’s leading multi-channel gaming software and services supplier, has won the eGaming Review Software Supplier of the Year prize at the publication’s inaugural Italy Awards held in Rome.

The company was awarded the honour for its significant achievements in one of Europe’s most important regulated gaming markets, beating a number of its well-established local and international rivals in the process.

Mor Weizer, Playtech CEO, said: “We’re thrilled to win this award. Italy is, and continues to be, one of the most important regulated markets for Playtech and we have big plans to extend our market share across all channels and products.”

Playtech has been active in Italy since the market regulated in 2007 with the country firmly establishing itself as one of Europe’s most mature gaming jurisdictions. The London-listed company currently offers casino and live casino, bingo, and poker and in August agreed an exclusive five-year structured deal with RCS Media Group, one Italy’s largest media organisations and its leading sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, to provide it with online and mobile sports betting and casino software and services.

Playtech is the leading online casino software provider in Italy as well as operating the country’s most cutting-edge bingo network. This year has been key to the network’s growth with all its licensees, including Italy’s largest operators Sisal, Snai, EuroBet and William Hill, joining a unified network in July. This gives players access to Italy’s largest bingo liquidity pool.

Playtech also recently acquired Aristocrat Lotteries – a leading supplier of server-based-gaming and online client server solutions for interactive video terminals – positioning its retail operation as one of the largest suppliers of VLT systems in Europe, including a significant VLT contract in Italy.
