With the New Year upon us, online poker giant PokerStars has announced the dates for the 2019/2020 season, with 21 live tournaments on offer. The season begins this month and will include seven events in Manila. The brand recently opened a Live room at Okada Manila, where the events will take place.

Growing Reputation:

The full schedule in Manila shows how the capital of the Philippines is growing their reputation as the home of live poker in Asia. Just two years ago, poker was struggling as the PokerStars Live Macau room at the City of Dreams closed and two Asian Poker Tour events were closed. Now, it seems a turnaround is taking place and poker is doing better than ever in the region.

According to asgam.com

The seven events on the poker schedule for PokerStars Live includes:

  • Red Dragon Manilla: January 4th to the 11th
  • Okada Manila Millions: March 9th to the 15th
  • Manila Megastack: May 22nd to 31st
  • Manila Super Series: July 6th to the 12th
  • APPT Manila: July 31st to August 9th
  • Manila Super Series: September 22nd to 28th
  • Manila Megastack Challenge: December 6th to 13th

Winners of the Red Dragon and the Manila Megastack will be given a Platinum Pass from the operator. The pass provides the player with entry into the PokerStars Players Championship 2020 which will take place in Barcelona in August 2020.

US Launch:

The announcement of more stops in Asia, comes at a time when the operator is expanding in the United States. Just last month, the brand announced an expansion within the state of Pennsylvania. The operator launched not only an online poker room in the state but also an online casino. They are the first to offer online poker in Pennsylvania. PokerStars now offers online gaming options in two states, with the first being New Jersey.
