As the online poker market continues to grow and expand in the United States, operators like PokerStars have the opportunity to offer quality poker tournaments and events in more areas of the nation. This year, the popular Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) took place in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The series was a success in each state, providing a massive amount of cash to players, plus a ton of poker action.

In total, PokerStars promised over $5 million in guaranteed prize money across the three states series. Once the SCOOPs came to an end, $6.35 million was provided. So far this year, the SCOOP in the US has outperformed any other online poker series.

It seems Pennsylvania was the most successful when it comes to turnout and prize money. The state offered 41 events during the PASCOOP and awarded $2.6 million in prize money. This surpassed the original guarantee by $600,000.

In New Jersey, the series promised $1.2 million in total prize money and ended up awarding $1.36 million. The series hosted 163 events, the largest of the three states, and saw 26,000 entries in total. Several players saw great success during the series, with a handful of players taking down more than one title each.

In Michigan, the state offered 120 events and provided $2.3 million in total prize money. Over 40,000 entries were recorded overall, which was a solid number considering the online poker market in the state is relatively new.

Why is SCOOP So Popular?

For years, PokerStars has offered SCOOP in the US as well as internationally. Over the years, the series has become a staple for the brand, as players turn out in full force to take part. So why is the series so popular? What sets it apart from the rest?

Well, for starters, the series offers a ton of events. The online poker room creates a full schedule and then offers a low, medium, and high event for each scheduled tournament. This allows players of all bankrolls to take part in any given event.

It is this factor that makes SCOOP so popular. Players love having the opportunity to take part in a series and play in a big event. Even though they might not have the money for the high-end event, they know the medium or low will offer the same great value at a lower price point.

PokerStars also offers ways for players to earn seats to events, which helps to cut down on the amount spent to play. Overall, the series has quality events, affordable buy-ins, and large prize pools to entice players from around the world to take part.
