The Lancashire town of Preston in the United Kingdom is home to a tall tower known as the Guild Tower, a fifteen story building. The tower may soon be transformed if the city council agrees to plans that would create a hotel, casino and spa at the location.
The proposed plans show the tower renamed as the Villa Urban, with Frank Whittle Partnership creating the designs. The project would cost £10m and include aparthotel with 105 guest rooms, a casino with 900 sq m in space on the first floor and additional amenities found at the spa and leisure area.
Seb Salisbury is an architect for Frank Whittle Partnership who stated that the company is delighted that approval has been given for the plans involving the Guild Tower. FWP looks forward to delivering the ambitious and visionary regeneration scheme to transform the area of the Preston city center.
According to Salisbury, the plans include a stylish mixed-use development that includes a modern aparthotel that will help to attract visitors to the city center. The plans include a casino, spa and gym that will complement the role of the complex as a leisure destination for the 21st century.
For additional entertainment, the basement as well as the ground floor levels will offer a bowling alley, golf course, sports bar and karaoke booths. According to Salisbury, the Guild Tower is currently being poorly used based on its location and the surrounding buildings. The masterplan will revitalize the area of the city center and complement the significant improvements that have been made in the surrounding area including the bus station.
Simon Rigby is the owner of the Guild Hall and Rigby has started the process for a gaming licenese. The goal is to create a real entertainment complex and offer different activities for visitors. According to Rigby, Preston is the right area for a casino and the Guild Hall is a great place for the casino to be located.
