The Trump Taj Mahal has just a few more weeks in operation before the casino will shut its doors forever. Trying to capitalize on the closure of a competitor, the Resorts Casino Hotel has launched a promotion program that is specifically offered to individuals who have a Trump One membership card, a rewards program of the Trump Taj Mahal.
Resorts has stated that anyone who can show they have a Trump One card at the Resorts Casino and signs up to be a member of the Star Card rewards program will be given a new member bonus of $25. This bonus can be used on slot gaming or match play. Such individuals will also be given a five time multiplier on comp dollars which will allow players to move up within the rewards tiers in a single day.
Despite the revenues being quite good for the Atlantic City gaming industry as of late, the Trump Taj Mahal will still be closing on the 10th of October. The Resorts Casino is certainly hoping to gain a few customers after the casino stops operations in the weeks ahead. The Resorts Casino was able to earn $17.9 million in July which is slightly higher than the $17.5 million that Taj earned for the same month.
It was surprising for some to see Carl Icahn decide to shut down the Taj, especially after all casinos in Atlantic City were able to see a rise in revenues for the first half of the year by 21%. Despite the announcement of the closure, the labor strike involving the UNITE HERE Local 54 strike still continues.
On Tuesday of this week, the union took to their Facebook page to discuss the bankruptcy proceedings of the casino from 2014, stating that this is when Icahn used the process to strip 1,000 workers of their health insurance, pensions, lunch breaks with pay and even increased the work load for some individuals.
