Sports betting began in Rhode Island in late November when the Twin River Casino began offering the wagering option. The Lincoln casino was able to see quite a few wagers placed during their first week of operations with reports showing close to $683k in sports bets were placed by visitors.
Five Days of Betting:
The Twin River Casino began offering sports betting on November 26th. The Rhode Island Lottery has released the totals from the five days of operations, revealing that players head to the casino in massive numbers to place their bets. The Twin River sportsbook is powered by William Hill and is a non-smoking venue located on the third floor of the casino.
According to the Boston Herald…
The casino paid close to $610,000 on winning wagers and around $73,000 was left for revenue. Rhode Island receives 51% after commissions as well as expenses for operating for the casino are removed. This amount was seen in just five days, so it will certainly be interesting to see how much can be earned in a full month.
Tiverton Casino Starts Services:
Twin River Casino was the first to launch sports betting in the state, followed closely by the Tiverton Casino Hotel. The Tiverton venue started offering sports betting services on December 3rd, just in time for Monday Night Football.
The sportsbook here offers 11 television screens to display games while two terminals are offered onsite for betting. Players will be able to keep track of sports games as they travel throughout the casino as the venue will be offering 50 TV screens to show the games.
Currently, the two casinos are the only locations in the state that can legally accept wagers. For now, sports bets can only be placed in person.
