The Casino de Marrakech in the Es Saadi Resort is currently hosting the 2020 World Series of Poker Circuit, with the Main Event recently finished up. The tournament had a 15,000 MAD buy-in and a total of 625 entries were made. The event was won by Samiyel Duzgun of Switzerland, with the player earning a prize of 1,600,000 MAD ($166,747). Along with the win, Duzgun earned a gold ring and a seat to the 2020 WSOP Global Championship set for August.
Details of the Event:
A total of 16 players would return to the felt on the final day with each player guaranteed a nice cash prize. Igna Poker was the chip leader when the day began but Duzgun was only one big blind behind the leader.
Eventually, the poker event would whittle down to the final two, Ayman Jarrar and Duzgan. Jarrar was able to have a slight chip lead going into heads-up play. However, Duzgan was not too far behind as he was able to eliminate Edouard Piquet in third place to gain a healthy amount of chips.
On the final hand, Duzgun would be in the lead and both would be all in with Jarrar holding 7-3 sited. Duzgun’s J-8 held up and gave him the hand along with the first-place win. Jarrar was given the runner-up trophy for his efforts in Marrakech, as well as a nice prize of 1,060,000 MAD ($110,470).
