Leaders of the Seminole Tribe of Florida are considering a new hotel construction for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino property of Tampa, Florida after gaining approval by the airport authorities to create a 16 story building. According to officials of the casino, they are in the early planning stages, but could possibly create a new hotel for the property, if the tribe so chooses.
Gary Bitner is a spokesman for the tribe who stated that the tribe has not decided if and when or whether or not the new hotel will actually happen. The tribe did however, present the airport authority with a ‘what if’ scenario to see if the height requirement was possible. If the tribe does decide to move forward with a new hotel project they will already have the approval by the airport authority to get started.
Documents of application were filed at the Hillsborough County Airport Authority that described a new structure that included a 16 story hotel with as many as 573 rooms. This would include a spa and fitness center plus guest suites. The property would also consist of 250 restaurant and bar seats, gaming space and 450 parking spaces, all spread out on 1.2 million square feet.
