After hiring Ashley Sandyford-Sykes to lead its new SG Digital entity in March, American gaming machine innovator Scientific Games Corporation has now announced that Nikos Konstakis (pictured) has been appointed to serve as the subordinate’s Sportsbook Product Vice-President.

According to an official press release published by EuropeanGaming.eu, Las Vegas-based Scientific Games Corporation stated that Konstakis is to primarily handle the development and delivery of its fully-managed OpenBet sportsbetting platform in the wake of the United States Supreme Court’s recent quashing of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA).

Scientific Games Corporation declared that Konstakis possesses ‘a wealth of industry experience’ after spending 16 years with Athens-based gaming firm Intralot and most recently served as Trading Vice-President for OpenBet. The firm explained that he will now additionally help its efforts to enter the coming legalized sportsbetting market in the United States.

Keith O’Loughlin, Sportsbook and Platforms Senior Vice-President for SG Digital, described the appointment of Konstakis as ‘an important step’ in his firm’s strategy of further ‘productization and developing’ its OpenBet portfolio.

“His knowledge of the sportsbetting industry is a valuable asset for us and he is already playing a key role in our preparations for entry into the United States regulated market with a significantly improved proposition,” read a statement from O’Loughlin.

For his part, Konstakis proclaimed that he was ‘thrilled’ that his new role with SG Digital has come at ‘an extremely exciting period for the company and our industry’ and he now hopes to help the subsidiary to deliver a ‘world-class OpenBet sportsbook’ while taking the platform ‘to the next level’ via the introduction of ‘innovative product enhancements’.
