In Australia and casino operator SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited has reportedly announced that it will be opening the $243 million expansion to its SkyCity Adelaide property from Thursday.
According to report from Inside Asian Gaming, the Wellington and Sydney-listed firm revealed that the mid-day exercise is due to see the South Australia venue launch its 120-room Eos by SkyCity luxury hotel as well as four restaurants and a host of conference and meeting facilities. The source detailed that the Adelaide property will moreover debut a pair of fresh bars alongside new space and VIP gaming rooms for its 129,000 sq ft casino.
Long-awaited enlargement:
SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited is also responsible for the SkyCity Auckland, SkyCity Hamilton and SkyCity Queenstown properties in New Zealand and it reportedly purchased the iconic Adelaide Casino in 2000 before rebranding the venue as SkyCity Adelaide a year later. The five-star downtown destination recently re-opened following a short coronavirus-related lockdown with the coming expansion purportedly representing its first major upgrade since 1985.
Community concentration:
David Christian serves as the general manager for SkyCity Adelaide and he reportedly explained that the expansion project had created approximately 1,000 temporary construction jobs and seen his venue employ an extra 500 staff while supporting in excess of 700 local suppliers.
Christian reportedly declared…
“I feel a sense of pride in what SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited has achieved since taking ownership 20 years ago. When we designed the new SkyCity Adelaide, which includes the stunning new expansion as well as a complete refurbishment of the heritage building, front of mind was to not only cater for the tourism market by showcasing South Australian producers and suppliers but also to provide a world-class precinct where all South Australians feel excited to visit and proud to call their own.”
