Sportradar Group AG has been granted a gaming-related vendor license by the United Arab Emirates’ General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), marking a pivotal step in the nation’s path toward a regulated commercial gaming industry. The authorization, which takes effect immediately, enables the Switzerland-based company to deliver its data-driven technology, sports analytics, and integrity services to licensed gaming operators within the UAE.

The GCGRA, established in 2023 and headquartered in Abu Dhabi, serves as the sole federal body responsible for licensing, regulating, and overseeing all forms of commercial gaming and national lotteries in the UAE. The authority’s decision to grant Sportradar approval signals a further stage in the country’s transition from regulatory development to implementation.

Expanding Reach Across Regulated Global Markets

The new UAE license expands Sportradar’s growing portfolio of regulated jurisdictions across the globe. As a prominent supplier of sports data and betting technology, the company has demonstrated continued financial momentum throughout 2025. Sportradar recorded a 17% increase in first-quarter revenue and maintained double-digit growth in the second quarter, reflecting steady demand for its advanced data and integrity solutions.

Sportradar has also deepened its long-term collaborations with leading international sports organizations, including UEFA and the NBA. Through these partnerships, the company provides comprehensive analytics, real-time integrity monitoring, and innovative betting technologies designed to enhance fairness and transparency in sports wagering.

According to a Sportradar representative quoted by Next.io, the firm “looks forward” to leveraging its “20-plus years of expertise and proprietary sports technology” to benefit operators and clients in the UAE. This aligns with the company’s broader strategy of prioritizing compliance and ethical engagement in every market it enters.

Supporting Integrity and Responsible Gaming

Sportradar’s entry into the UAE reflects the growing global emphasis on well-regulated gaming markets underpinned by integrity and accountability. Chief Executive Officer Carsten Koerl has previously emphasized that the company’s mission centers on aligning its services with each region’s regulatory framework while advancing transparency and responsible gaming practices.

With its new authorization, Sportradar will collaborate with UAE operators to implement its proprietary AI-driven systems capable of detecting and preventing match-fixing and other forms of manipulation. These technologies are designed to support the GCGRA’s oversight mission and reinforce trust in emerging gaming markets.

GCGRA’s Licensing Momentum and Market Development

The GCGRA’s issuance of vendor licenses follows the UAE’s approval of several key gaming initiatives, most notably the Wynn Al Marjan Island project in Ras Al Khaimah. The resort—expected to open in 2027—will be the first casino in the country and represents a cornerstone of the UAE’s diversification strategy to boost tourism and economic growth while maintaining strict regulatory control.

In addition to Sportradar, other prominent gaming and technology firms have received vendor approvals from the GCGRA. These include Aristocrat Technologies Europe, IGT Global Services Limited, Scientific Games International Limited, Konami Gaming Inc., Novomatic AG, and Pollard Banknote Limited, among others. However, the authority has yet to issue any iGaming or sports betting licenses, signaling that the UAE remains in the early stages of shaping its commercial gaming framework.

As the UAE continues to build out its gaming infrastructure, Sportradar’s presence brings internationally recognized experience in sports data technology and integrity solutions, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to transparency, regulation, and innovation in a sector poised for transformative growth.
