Australia’s casino industry is growing at a rapid pace and a number of popular casino resorts are being forced to invest heavily to upgrade and expand their facilities in order to stay ahead of the competition. The Star Entertainment Group which owns the popular Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast recently announced that it will seek to get approval to build a second tower at the site.

The second tower will have a total of 700 hotel rooms, be 200 metres in height and face the oceanic side of the resort. Star Entertainment is already in the process of constructing the first tower which is 17 stories high and refurbishing the current hotel. If the second tower gets approval, the Jupiters Casino will have a completely different feel to it as the owners are also planning to set up a state of the art theatre that will host live sporting events.

The current Jupiters hotel has a total of 600 hotel rooms and once the second tower is completed, the casino resort will have around 1,400 rooms. The first hotel tower which is being built in front of the casino will come with 50 luxury suites and a 6 star rating, while the second tower is expected to have a 4.5 star rating.

Star Entertainment is expected to invest close to $850 million on the entire project which includes the establishment of a number of premier food and beverage facilities. This massive project will provide enormous benefits to the local community as it is expected to generate around 1,000 temporary construction jobs and once the project is completed, the total number of permanent jobs at the Jupiters casino is expected to rise to around 2,300.

In a statement, Matt Bekier, CEO of the Star Entertainment Group said “We want to be Australia’s leading integrated resorts operator and our plans for the Gold Coast are a significant part of that vision. Importantly, we will also have a world-class property just up the highway at Brisbane to ensure the tourism experiences on offer, while unique by location, will also be complementary and of benefit to the broader southeast Queensland area by significantly increasing visitation”.

The Star Entertainment Group will team up with Far East Consortium and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises to implement this new project. The same team are already in the process of constructing a mega-casino resort at Queen’s Wharf Brisbane. The two Hong Kong based enterprises have strong connections all over Asia and a large list of VIP customers which they will leverage to sell attracting packages to Australia that give them great deals at Star Entertainment owned casino resorts.
