Since 2010, the Stratosphere Hotel, Casino & Tower has hosted the SkyJump Las Vegas attraction. Visitors brave enough would take the controlled 855 foot drop from the top of the Stratosphere Tower. A special suit is used to help the rider jump and is connected to a descender machine of the highest speeds. Over the weekend, the casino celebrated their 200,000th jumper with a special jump and a grand prize giveaway, surprised to have hit this milestone so quickly.
The celebratory jumper is known as Ruby J. and was welcomed by the staff of the Stratosphere with balloons, confetti and champagne as she reached the top of the tower. The lucky jumper was also handed a prize package worth $2,000 for being number 200,000 to make the jump. The package included a seven day cruise, via Norwegian Cruise Lines, to Mexico. Merchandise of SkyJump as well as a three night stay at the Stratosphere was also included.
The Vice President of Hotel Operations at the Stratosphere, Tim Kuykendall, stated that the casino is excited to have reached the 200K Day SkyJump landmark. Kuykendall stated that reaching the milestone helps to remind the casino how popular the attraction is and how much it is enjoyed by their patrons.
