In Cyprus, casino operator, Melco International Development Limited, has reportedly welcomed some 175,000 people to its Cyprus Casinos (C2) venue since opening the temporary facility a little over three months ago.

Limassol venue:

According to a Friday report from GGRAsia citing an earlier story from the Cyprus Mail newspaper, the C2 enterprise is located in the southern Limassol district of Zakaki and premiered on June 28 complete with a 13,993 sq ft gaming floor offering a selection of 258 slots alongside 33 gaming tables.

City of Dreams Mediterranean precursor:

Hong Kong-listed, Melco International Development Limited, is the parent of Asian casino giant, Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited, and last year won the right to bring the first casino to Cyprus via a 30-year license. It subsequently spent approximately $14.13 million to open the C2 facility as a way to promote interest in its much larger City of Dreams Mediterranean development, which is scheduled to open outside the nearby village of Tserkezoi in 2021.

Exceeding expectations:

GGRAsia reported that the C2 venue also features a VIP gaming area alongside a pair of bars and a restaurant and has enrolled some 13,000 people into its C2 Rewards Club loyalty program. Craig Ballantyne, City of Dreams Mediterranean Property President for Melco International Development Limited, purportedly detailed that the temporary facility had ‘exceeded our expectations’ and has now become a ‘must-see destination for locals and tourists alike.’

Future accompaniments:

Being built at an estimated cost of $648 million, the 500-room City of Dreams Mediterranean development is due to feature eleven restaurants as well as a 70,000 sq ft gaming floor offering around 1,200 slots and 136 gaming tables. The island nation’s first integrated casino resort is due to be managed by a Melco International Development Limited-controlled consortium and will eventually be complemented by four small satellite gaming facilities for the communities of Larnaca, Paphos, Nicosia and Ayia Napa.
