One of America’s leading real estate and entertainment development firms, The Cordish Companies, has obtained unanimous validation from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board (LGCB), Louisiana’s gaming regulatory body, to officially become a licensed casino operator in Bossier City, Louisiana.

With the aforementioned validation, the firm will be able to finish the purchase of Diamond Jacks & Casino Hotel and officially start the redevelopment of the facility into a casino resort and entertainment property within Live! brand. Additionally, the $270 million casino redevelopment project is slated to open in two years, aka in 2025, and involves the construction of the 1st ever-land-based casino within the Shreveport–Bossier market boundaries.

Commenting on the aforementioned redevelopment project, Managing Partner at The Cordish Companies, Joe Weinberg, showed his appreciation for the validation and was excited to share its happiness over the aforementioned redevelopment project, saying: “Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be a transformative development that will bring a first-class gaming, dining, entertainment and hospitality experience, create significant new jobs and generate millions of dollars in economic benefits for the community. We are extremely excited to continue moving forward with this project and deliver a world-class destination to the region.” 

Also, Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman, Ronnie Johns, added according to the official press release: “The Louisiana Gaming Control Board is pleased to announce the approval of The Cordish Companies’ acquisition of the license from the former Diamond Jacks property in Bossier City. Cordish has an exceptional reputation in providing first rate casino experiences as well as hospitality and entertainment venues across the country. We are pleased with their decision to bring their Live! brand to the State of Louisiana. We feel comfortable that their commitment to a first class $270 million project will help grow the Bossier City/Shreveport gaming market. We welcome The Cordish Companies and look forward to working with them to bring this project to a reality to open sometime in 2025.”

Layout of the Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana:

Throughout the public hearing, Cordish executives introduced an outline of how Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, a more than $270 million investment, will look like when the redevelopment is completed. Furthermore, the development will involve more than 47,000-square-meters of gaming space, featuring over 1,000 slot machines, electronic table games (ETGs) and more than 40 live-action table games. It will also include a hotel equipped with 550 rooms, a 25,000-square-foot Event Center, a sportsbook, more than 30,000 square feet of entertainment and dining options as well as resort-style amenities.

The new casino-hotel continues Cordish’s extension in the Southeast and South Central regions of the US, in addition to numerous other facilities located in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Florida, Texas and Tennessee. Additionally, at the sites of these other developments mentioned above, the firm has more than $1 billion “under construction in the Arlington Entertainment District.”
