Resorts World Manila is expanding its integrated entertainment and gaming facility, and Travellers International Hotel Groups Inc. has allocated U.S. $236 million from its 2013 initial public offering for the development.
The funds will be utilized to increase the Marriott Hotel Manila by an additional 227 rooms. The upgrade is expected to be available for booking by early 2016.
Additional hotel developments are on the drawing board. One project will be to expand the Maxim hotel, and two new hotels are expected to be integrated into the Resorts World Complex soon after.
The Resorts World Manila Resort in the Philippines is located across from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The operations are the result of a joint venture between Genting Hong Kong and Alliance Global Group. The resort, built over a former military camp currently has three hotels, a shopping mall, and a casino offering VIP services. Opening in 2009, Resorts World Manila remained the only casino resort in the Manila metropolitan area until 2013.
