Australian Gambling – Novak Djokovic took down Roger Federer in one of the greatest Wimbledon finals in modern history on Monday morning to secure his seventh grand slam title.

Federer, gunning for a record ninth Wimbledon title, won the first set and saved a Championship point in the fourth set, but eventually fell to the Serbian in a five-set thriller, 6-7 (7/9), 6-4, 7-6 (7/4), 5-7, 6-4.

Djokovic, the new world number one following the win, had come into the tournament as the $2.88 favourite and, after displaying typical dominant form in reaching the final, was paying as little as $1.65 with some bookmakers to beat Federer, who was paying $2.45.

With Federer, a living legend of the sport, gunning for what could have been his last Wimbledon title and Djokovic, a modern great who has taken all before him, the final brought with it big expectations and it certainly lived up to the hype.
