Jeju Dream Tower, the premier foreigner-only integrated resort on South Korea’s Jeju Island, reported unprecedented growth in July 2025, setting new benchmarks in casino revenue, gaming volume, and guest visitation. The property, operated by Lotte Tour Development, experienced a dramatic rise in casino sales, which reached KRW43.4 billion (approximately US$32.5 million), up 90.1% compared to July 2024.
This exceptional performance also represented a 21.3% increase over June 2025, continuing a six-month streak of strong momentum for the resort, according to data published by Inside Asian Gaming, citing Jeju Dream Tower parent company Lotte Tour Development IR. Table games were the main driver behind this surge, accounting for KRW41.6 billion (US$31.1 million) of July’s revenue—a 21% boost from the prior month and a staggering 99.1% increase year-on-year.
Machine games contributed KRW1.87 billion (US$1.4 million), improving 30% month-on-month, though this was 5.2% below last year’s July figures. The strong performance across gaming segments was further supported by higher hold percentages in July compared to June, helping the casino reach its all-time monthly sales record.
Visitation Hits Record High; Hotel Revenue Lags
The surge in gaming activity coincided with a record-breaking month for visitor numbers. Jeju Dream Tower welcomed 56,691 guests in July, surpassing its previous peak of 51,515 set in June. This marked a 10% rise over the prior month and a 65.4% increase from July 2024.
While the casino operation soared, the hotel segment experienced mixed results. Revenue from hotel operations in July stood at KRW7.88 billion (US$5.9 million), representing a 15.4% increase over June. However, this figure was still 14.8% lower than the KRW9.24 billion (US$6.9 million) posted in July 2024, signaling ongoing challenges in the accommodation sector.
For the year-to-date period ending July 31, cumulative hotel revenue dropped 10.7% year-on-year to KRW43.8 billion (US$32.8 million), compared to KRW49.1 billion (US$36.7 million) during the same period in 2024.
Strong Year-to-Date Growth Anchored by Table Games
From January through July 2025, Jeju Dream Tower’s total casino revenue reached KRW238 billion (US$178.1 million), a robust 49.3% increase over the same seven-month span in 2024. Table games generated the majority of this growth, pulling in KRW226.2 billion (US$169.2 million)—up 51.4% year-on-year—while machine games contributed KRW11.78 billion (US$8.8 million), marking an 18.4% increase.
Meanwhile, the casino drop for July alone, which represents the total amount exchanged for chips at table games, climbed to KRW240.6 billion (US$173 million), a 93.4% year-on-year increase and a 9.7% rise from June. Machine drop added KRW33.6 billion (US$24.2 million), bringing the total casino drop for July to KRW274.2 billion (US$198 million).
Over the seven-month period, cumulative casino drop reached KRW1.26 trillion, up 52.9% compared to the same period last year—another indicator of the resort’s expanding gaming footprint.
Resort’s Scale and Licensing Contribute to Success
As Jeju Island’s tallest building, standing at 38 floors and 169 meters, Jeju Dream Tower has established itself as a central hub for tourism and entertainment. The resort houses a variety of offerings, including 14 restaurants and bars, a retail mall, an outdoor pool deck, a skydeck lounge, and two spas.
Its casino, relocated from Lotte Hotel Jeju in June 2021, spans more than 5,000 square meters and features 141 gaming tables, 190 slot machines, and 71 electronic table games. Operated under one of Jeju’s seven casino licenses, it is among just three casinos currently active on the island and remains accessible only to foreigners due to national gaming regulations.
