Grant Bowie, the Chief Executive Officer of MGM China, has confirmed that the new project of MGM in Cotai is right on schedule with construction. Bowie spoke with reporters yesterday and stated that he hopes the new Cotai project can be unveiled in 2016, during the fourth quarter as it was previously scheduled. Bowie also indicated that the exact opening date of the facility will be dependent on the evaluation procedures.
Bowie is hoping that the Cotai project will be allowed 500 gaming tables, but this decision will be based on the government. After being asked if the city’s gaming revenues will increase with the new facility, Bowie stated that operators should enhance their service quality in the area to attract customers. Also discussed was the level food and beverage sales, which have dropped slightly in the market. However, the hotel occupancy rate is stable enough as the scale of the venue is small.
