In a firm move to protect consumers and uphold the legality of its online gaming market, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist orders to six digital gambling platforms that were found operating without the proper state licenses.

The targeted entities—Bonus Blitz Casino, DomGame, Royal Ace Casino, Slots Capital, Supernova Casino, and Wins Mania—have been conducting internet-based gambling activities without complying with Michigan’s licensing and regulatory framework. The MGCB confirmed that these operations violated Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and relevant sections of the Michigan Penal Code.

“These illegal operators often masquerade as legitimate gaming platforms, but they exist entirely outside the legal safeguards that protect consumers,” stated Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB, in an official press release. “When Michiganders play on unlicensed sites, they’re placing their personal and financial security at risk—with little to no recourse if things go wrong.”

Outside the Law—and Consumer Protections

Unlike Michigan-approved operators who undergo thorough vetting and adhere to strict state mandates, these six platforms lacked any form of state authorization. Some of the operators are based offshore, making them even harder to hold accountable under U.S. law. Others may appear domestic but do not meet Michigan’s rigorous standards for licensing and operation.

The lack of oversight means these unlicensed sites fail to implement consumer protection measures such as secure data handling, fair play monitoring, and dispute resolution mechanisms. Furthermore, they are not obligated to offer responsible gaming tools like self-exclusion programs or betting limits, which are standard for state-sanctioned platforms.

“This action sends a clear message to illegal operators: Michigan is not a place for rogue gambling,” Williams added. “We are committed to preserving a safe, legal, and accountable gaming landscape—and that includes rooting out bad actors who threaten the trust we’ve built with consumers.”

Cease-and-Desist Notices Aim to Safeguard Public

The MGCB’s orders compel the six gambling sites to immediately discontinue any operations involving Michigan users. Should the operators fail to comply, they face increasingly severe legal consequences.

This enforcement action is part of Michigan’s broader effort to clean up its online gambling environment. Earlier in May, the MGCB also took action against 14 offshore platforms for offering unauthorized gaming services, including casino-style games and sports betting.

By targeting these unauthorized platforms, the MGCB underscores its commitment to maintaining a trustworthy and legally compliant iGaming ecosystem for Michigan residents.

Know the Dangers of Illegal Online Gambling

The MGCB points out that playing on unlicensed platforms is fraught with risk. According to the state regulator, on such platforms consumers may encounter:

  • Loss of deposited funds with no route for recovery
  • Increased vulnerability to identity theft and personal data misuse
  • Games that are potentially rigged or lack transparency
  • Absence of responsible gambling features or self-exclusion options

To ensure safety, the MGCB strongly recommends using only state-authorized websites, which are listed on its official website.
