May 22nd 2015, a suggested casino situated in Tiverton, Rhode Island would have about 1100 slot machines, the same number as are in play at the current Newport Grand casino, according to the head of Twin Rivers. Twin River Casino is located in Lincoln.

John E. Taylor Jr, the Chairman of Twin River Worldwide Holdings said that on Thursday during a question and answer meeting that table games on offer would include craps, blackjack and roulette but it probably won’t include poker.

The Newport Daily News said that the casino based on its size would likely generate about $4 million per year in taxes on gambling, property, beverages and food.

Newport Grand is located in Newport.   Twin River worldwide Holdings would like to buy the casino and license and move the gaming venue to Tiverton. The sale is still waiting on regulator approval said Taylor.

A casino referendum would need to go before Tiverton voters in November 2016. Taylor previously  said the planning process is wide open and the final project will be shaped by community input and desires. Local and state officials are supportive of the new casino location as a means to generate revenue but opposition to new development in Tiverton is shown through grass roots reluctance to get behind Tiverton Crossings/Tiverton Glen, a mixed use development there.
