Sky River Casino in Elk Grove, California, has opened a newly expanded gaming floor, marking a major milestone for the property as it grows toward a full-scale resort destination planned for later this decade. The latest addition introduces a 20,000-square-foot gaming area that increases capacity and enhances the overall arrival experience for visitors.
The expansion coincides with the near completion of a new five-story parking structure designed to support the property’s increasing traffic. Once finished, the structure will include approximately 1,600 parking spaces along with an updated valet service area and a future porte cochere for guests arriving at the casino.
Expanded Casino Floor Introduces New Slot Options
With the addition of 312 new slot machines, the property now operates a total of 2,500 machines across the gaming floor. Casino management described the expansion as part of an effort to improve accessibility and create a streamlined “park and play” experience for guests arriving at the venue.
“This moment reflects Wilton Rancheria’s pledge to honor our heritage while creating new opportunities for the future,” said Chairman Jesus Tarango of Wilton Rancheria. “Each enhancement – from the new slot machines to the evolving resort amenities – moves us toward a world-class destination that celebrates our connection to the region while embracing new possibilities.”
The additional gaming space increases the range of entertainment available on the casino floor, with several new slot titles joining the property’s lineup. Among the recently installed machines is Buffalo Gold Collection, a widely recognized slot series that appears frequently across casino floors in Las Vegas. The game includes 1,024 possible winning combinations rather than traditional paylines.
Another addition, Dancing Drums Link Fortune, includes three feature pots—red, green, and purple—which can activate jackpots, free spins, or multiplier wild symbols. Multiple pots may trigger at the same time, allowing stacked features to appear within the same round.
The casino also introduced Dragon Spin Saga – Fire & Water, a slot that typically uses a five-reel format with up to 243 adjacent ways to win. In this game format, payouts occur when matching symbols appear on consecutive reels. The slot incorporates Fire and Water themed bonus sequences with animated visual effects.
The gaming floor expansion comes several years after the casino’s initial opening. Sky River Casino began operations in 2022 and spans approximately 100,000 square feet. Alongside its slot machines, the venue offers more than 80 table games as well as a wide selection of food and beverage outlets. Visitors currently have access to 18 restaurants and bars throughout the property.
Sky River Casino is owned by Wilton Rancheria and operated in partnership with Boyd Gaming Corporation. The property is located at 1 Sky River Parkway in Elk Grove, roughly 15 miles southeast of downtown Sacramento.
Cultural Elements Continue Across New Gaming Space
Design features across the expanded area continue to highlight the cultural heritage of the Wilton Rancheria tribe. Decorative elements introduced when the casino opened remain part of the new section of the gaming floor.
Guests will see acorn-inspired chandeliers and carpeting integrated throughout the property. The motif references the traditional foodways of the Miwok and Nisenan people and serves as a symbol of sustenance and self-sufficiency within tribal culture. The design concept reflects the importance of maintaining balance with the land and preparing for future generations.
By extending these design elements into the new gaming area, the casino maintains a consistent identity across the property while expanding its footprint.
The latest gaming floor addition forms part of a larger development plan scheduled to transform the casino into a broader resort destination. The project, currently targeted for completion in 2027, will introduce a series of new amenities around the existing casino.
Plans includethe construction of a 300-room hotel located near a ground-level glass atrium designed to create a botanical setting filled with natural light. Additional features are expected to include a luxury day spa, an outdoor pool area, expanded dining options, and a 30,000-square-foot multi-use venue intended for events and entertainment.
The resort expansion will also include a new high-limit gaming section and a dedicated VIP gaming area. These additions aim to broaden the property’s appeal while maintaining the design themes that connect the casino to the surrounding region.
Casino leadership described the current gaming floor expansion as an important step toward that larger project.
“We are committed to providing our guests with an immediate sense of convenience as they step into our newly expanded gaming floor – a place where comfort is woven into every detail,” said Michael J. Facenda, Sky River Casino President and GM, according to Indian Gaming. “Reaching 2,500 slot machines is a milestone we’re proud of, and as we move toward our 2027 resort debut, we’re shaping an environment where every visit feels elevated.”
